As a fiduciary financial advisor in Roanoke, Holland Capital helps healthcare professionals in their 50s with savings spread across hospital retirement plans learn whether they are ready to retire, through a fixed-fee review that leaves every account in place. Our Roanoke clients meet with Holland Capital by video and phone, scheduled around clinical hours.
Several healthcare jobs. Retirement accounts left behind. No single answer on whether it adds up.
Roughly 18% of Roanoke’s 99,100 residents are 65 or older. The city’s median household income is near $55,000, and its median home value is near $191,000. Carilion Clinic has more than 10,000 employees, and HCA, Wells Fargo and Altec are other large local employers.
A healthcare career can move between systems and leave money in each. None of the statements says whether you can stop on the date you picture. A readiness review tests that date and puts the answer in writing. The fee is fixed, and nothing is transferred. Ask any advisor up front whether they owe you a fiduciary duty and where their income comes from.
Gather the Plans You Have Earned
We record each workplace account from past and current jobs: its balance, its investments and what the plan permits when you leave or retire. Open points become written questions for each plan’s benefits office. If you ever change jobs or consider combining accounts, our job-change rollover guide lays out the choices.
Test Your Target Year
We set your expected spending against Social Security, other income and what your savings can supply. Then we move the date a year each way and show what shifts. Our guide to getting more from a 401(k) covers saving in the final working years.
The answer may be yes, not yet, or yes with adjustments.

The Order Matters
Five retirement decisions and why timing matters.
One Combined Mix
Separate plans can add up to an overall investment mix you never chose as a whole. One account may hold far more stocks or cash than another. We look at the total and suggest changes inside each plan.
You or your current advisor can make those changes. Asking us to run the money through investment management is a separate decision for later.
How We Work with Clients in Roanoke
Holland Capital Management is an independent registered investment adviser and a fiduciary. M. Chad Holland, CFA, CFP® works directly with clients and is responsible for the planning and advice.
Bring a current statement for every workplace plan you have joined, one recent pay stub, a Social Security estimate and a rough monthly budget.
The written readiness review carries a fixed fee settled in advance. Your accounts remain where they are, and you choose who, if anyone, carries out the recommendations.
The first conversation is free. If there is work worth doing after that, we will define the scope and cost before you decide whether to move forward.
Our offices are in Charlotte, North Carolina and Winter Park, Florida. We work with clients in Roanoke by video and phone.
We work with clients throughout Virginia. You can see the other Virginia communities we serve here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will a Readiness Review Require Me to Move Any Accounts?
No. We review each account where it sits now. Combining accounts is a separate question we cover only if it comes up.
What Does a Fiduciary Financial Advisor Bring to a Readiness Review?
Holland Capital acts as a fiduciary when providing financial planning and investment advice. Our view of your retirement year follows your numbers, including when they point to working a bit longer.
You agree to one fixed price for the review before we start. Asset management, if you request it later, is priced on its own terms, and you see those terms first.
How Do Roanoke Clients Work with Us Day to Day?
Every meeting is by video or phone. Paperwork arrives through a secure upload link, and calls fit around your shifts.
