As a fiduciary financial advisor in Richmond, Holland Capital helps investors who want a fixed-price written plan for their savings, taxes and retirement before they decide whether anyone should manage the money. For Richmond clients, the work runs by video and phone, with in-person appointments available at the Regus center at Truist Place downtown.
Money saved in several places. Questions about all of it. No wish to hand over the accounts just to get answers.
Richmond is home to about 237,000 people, and about 44% of homes are owner-occupied. VCU and VCU Health, Dominion, Truist, the Federal Reserve Bank, Philip Morris USA and state agencies all employ people here.
You may already invest on your own or with someone you trust. What can be missing is a plan that ties it together: when work can stop, what you can spend and how taxes fit. You pay a fixed fee for that judgment, and acting on it is your call. Whoever you speak with, put two questions to them plainly: are you a fiduciary on all of this, and where does your pay come from?
Advice Before Anything Moves
We start with what you own, where it is held and what it is for. Your accounts stay put while we study them.
The plan then works through your retirement planning questions in order, with the reasoning for each answer written beside it.
An Honest Read on Your Current Portfolio
We compare how your money is invested today with what the plan needs. If the two match, we tell you so. If not, we explain what to change and why.
Placement matters too, because the account that holds an investment can affect your yearly tax bill. Our asset location guide explains the idea.

Your Plan, Your Choice of Who Acts on It
Carry the plan out yourself or hand it to an advisor you already work with. If ongoing help appeals later, you can add our investment management then, with the portfolio guided by an investment policy statement drawn from your plan.
How We Work with Clients in Richmond
Holland Capital Management is an independent registered investment adviser and a fiduciary. M. Chad Holland, CFA, CFP® works directly with clients and is responsible for the planning and advice.
Bring statements for each investment and retirement account, last year’s tax return, a recent pay stub and a short note on what you hope the plan will answer.
You receive a written plan with every recommendation explained, priced as a fixed fee we agree on before the work begins. Put it to work on your own, through the advisor you have now, or with us.
The first conversation is free. If there is work worth doing after that, we will define the scope and cost before you decide whether to move forward.
Our offices are in Charlotte, North Carolina and Winter Park, Florida. We work with clients in Richmond primarily by video or phone. When an in-person meeting makes sense, we meet by appointment at the Regus center at Truist Place, 919 East Main Street, Suite 1000.
For clients whose investments we manage, accounts are held directly at Charles Schwab in the client’s own name. Holland Capital manages the investments but does not take custody of client assets. If a client ever needs in-person assistance from Schwab, the closest branch is in Glen Allen at 11108 West Broad Street.
We work with clients throughout Virginia. You can see the other Virginia communities we serve here.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I Get a Plan Without Moving My Accounts?
Yes. We build it from the statements you share, wherever your accounts are held. Whether anything moves later is a separate decision, and it is yours.
Why Should a Fiduciary Financial Advisor Write My Plan?
Holland Capital acts as a fiduciary when providing financial planning and investment advice. Here, that means the plan may conclude your current setup already works, and we will say so.
One fixed fee, settled before we start, pays for the plan, and should you want our management of your investments down the road, that service carries its own fee, explained before you choose.
Where Do Richmond Clients Meet with Us?
Meetings are by appointment at Truist Place, 919 East Main Street, Suite 1000, Richmond, where Regus has a meeting center.
The bulk of our work together takes place by video or phone.
