As a fiduciary financial advisor in Raleigh, Holland Capital helps professionals in their 40s to early 60s get a written financial plan for a fixed fee, with investment management as a separate choice they can make later. We work with clients in Raleigh by video and phone, and meet in person by appointment at the Regus center at North Hills in Raleigh.
Advice first. Decisions about your money second.
Raleigh is the state capital and has grown from about 404,000 people in 2010 to more than 500,000 today.
If you searched for a fiduciary, you may already know what you want: advice given in your interest before you decide what to do with your money. You may also want to see the advice before deciding whether anyone should manage your money.
A fixed-fee planning engagement is built for that.
What a Fixed-Fee Plan Covers
A plan starts with where you are today: income, spending, savings, debts, insurance and the accounts you already own.
From there, it answers the questions in front of you. When can you retire, and what does it take to get there? Which accounts should you fund first? How can you lower your tax bill this year and later? Is your insurance the right kind and amount? Are your will and other estate documents current?
Our guide on estate planning covers the main estate documents and what each one does.
You receive the plan in writing, with each recommendation and the reason for it. We walk through it with you and change what needs changing before it is final.
How the Fee Is Set
The fee depends on the scope of the work. A household with one job and a few accounts needs less work than one with a business, stock pay or property to plan for.
We define the scope and the fee before any work begins. You know the cost before you decide.
Because the plan is built on your own numbers, it can be updated as your pay, your family or the tax rules change.
After the Plan Is Delivered
You can carry out the plan yourself when the steps are clear and you have the time.
Or you can ask us to help. Ongoing advice can cover yearly tax moves, such as whether a Roth conversion makes sense, along with plan updates when life changes.
At Holland Capital, investment management is a separate service with its own fee. You can decide on it once you have seen the plan, or not at all.
How We Work with Clients in Raleigh
Holland Capital Management is an independent registered investment adviser and a fiduciary. M. Chad Holland, CFA, CFP® works directly with clients and is responsible for the planning and advice.
Bring your latest tax return, recent pay stubs, a statement for each investment and retirement account, your insurance policies and a rough monthly budget.
We agree on the questions the plan should answer, then set the scope and fee in writing.
The first conversation is free. If there is work worth doing after that, we will define the scope and cost before you decide whether to move forward.
Our offices are in Charlotte, North Carolina and Winter Park, Florida. We work with clients in Raleigh primarily by video or phone. When an in-person meeting makes sense, we meet by appointment at the Regus center at North Hills Tower II, 4242 Six Forks Road in Raleigh.
For clients whose investments we manage, accounts are held directly at Charles Schwab in the client’s own name. Holland Capital manages the investments but does not take custody of client assets. If a client ever needs in-person assistance from Schwab, the closest branch is in Raleigh at 4313 Glenwood Avenue.
We work with clients throughout North Carolina. You can see the other North Carolina communities we serve here.

Frequently Asked Questions
How Are You Paid?
Advisory work is paid by fee: financial planning is offered for a fixed fee once the scope is clear, and investment management is an advisory fee based on the assets we manage. We act as a fiduciary when we give planning and investment advice, and you see the cost in writing before you decide anything.
What Does Fiduciary Mean for My Plan?
It means the advice is given in your interest. For a planning client, that includes advice on accounts we do not manage, such as a workplace 401(k).
If a recommendation would involve a product or service we could be paid for, we tell you and explain the cost before you decide.
Where Would We Meet in Raleigh?
